Have you ever celebrated Līgo backwards? No? Well, then you weren’t with us in 2024. Yes, we did it: Līgo on June 21-23, a few days earlier! Because, why not? When it comes to creativity, the “Latvian Caravan Club” knows how to surprise everyone.

How Magic Emerges from Chaos
It seemed like an ordinary evening, but it wasn’t. Crews arrived one after another, as if in the “Dakar” rally. Everyone was charged, ready for action, with a spark in their eyes. Saunas? We’ve got them. A communal table? Of course. Tents? There are more than trees in the forest!
Teamwork — that’s what marked our beginning. Some were building a bonfire taller than the Eiffel Tower, others crafted a table that might even be visible from space. The atmosphere was as tense as a guitar string in Jimi Hendrix’s hands because everyone knew: tomorrow would be a celebration to remember.
When Traditions Embrace Chaos
The morning began with traditional Latvian dishes — pancakes, cheese, and honey. And no, no one was counting calories because ahead was a day that promised to be explosive.
First came the contests. Funny, absurd, sometimes so outrageous you’d exclaim, “Who came up with this?!” And then — the highlight of the day: the foam party. Yes, with a giant cannon shooting out so much foam that local kids seriously thought it was snow. And if anyone tells you that nature-based relaxation is boring, send them to us.
As the day turned to evening, it could mean only one thing: time for the torch procession. Imagine dozens of people with torches slowly approaching the giant bonfire. At that moment, it seemed that our light could be seen beyond the Milky Way. We lit this fire to honor our ancestors and remind ourselves that traditions are not just rituals — they are part of us.
And then, of course, dancing! Not just to any music, but to national tunes that made everyone — young and old — start dancing. When the music stopped, the last person went to bed with a smile, knowing that this evening would never be forgotten.

Silence and… a New Life for Things
Waking up to the sounds of nature — that’s the best way to start the day. Birds chirping, the sun peeking into the camper windows, and we slowly returned to life.
For the first time in the history of Līgo, we decided to give things a second life. Participants brought items that seemed to have already lived their time and gave them a chance to become part of something new. It was so touching that even the most hardened skeptic couldn’t remain indifferent.
How Did All of This Fit Into Three Days?
Looking back, it’s hard to believe that so much happened in just three days. But does time even matter when there’s such magic around? We didn’t just celebrate Līgo; we created a new world — a world where traditions meet creativity, and the past embraces the future.
Now, when it’s all over, we realize: these were three days that left a mark not only in our hearts but also in the history of our club.
